Delaware Tech is hosting a Nursing career fair at Delaware Tech’s Student Services Center on Wednesday, October 23 to provide career opportunities for students that want to be successful in the nursing field.
On October 23, at the Nursing Career Fair, students are given a chance to introduce themselves and talk to other hospitals, and see what interest them in that field. The ultimate goal is to see what it is like to get an interview and see who their employers are, or to hopefully have a job once they graduate said Walter Davis.
Davis wants this event to give students an idea to see what company they want to work for. The places that are coming to the career fair are handing out flyers and providing information about opportunities at the facility or hospital.

Walter Davis, a Delaware Tech Instructor, hosted this year’s career fair for nursing student, to hopefully be successful. Walters’s job for the career fair was to get in touch with the agencies. The job fair had 135 students and 27 vendors. Vendors from different hospitals and locations came to this event to talk to students to potentially get students jobs.
This is Davis first time hosting this event, Davis believes the poor turnouts from other years are because the event was so close for finals students. The hosts’ favorite part of the event was openness and Enthusiasm about the event, “everyone is super excited about it”.
The career fair is not just for nursing students. The events caters are more than just nurses, said Davis. “These facilities, especially just these big name hospitals, it’s not just nursing they are looking for, they still need those radiology techs, they still need those PT technicians.” Since these students are getting degrees in those fields, they can also come and participate as well.
Nursing is so broad, it gives these students and idea where to venture off, said Davis. “If that path is not for them they can switch”.

Delaware Tech Nursing student, Brittney Amodi, who is in her final semester, said “I want to be at Nanticoke Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse”. Amodi was at the Nursing career fair looking for a job. The nursing student is in her last semester at Delaware Tech, hoping to be employed after this semester.

Drew Love, a Delaware Tech nursing students said he is looking for a job opportunity after he graduates. Love has already spoken to Nanticoke Hospital, Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) AND Bay Health Center. Love the soon to be graduate with a nursing major hopes to work in critical care, an ICU setting, if that does not work out then Medical Service will be his second option.
